Full-Height Turnstile Gate Installation
A dual-lane, stainless-steel full-height turnstile system integrated with Dahua access control, installed to secure pedestrian entry at Khadamat’s Razeen-03 labour camp in Abu Dhabi. The system now governs every pedestrian movement in and out of the camp, giving site management a single, centrally managed access layer in place of manual guard checks at the gate.
Overview
Khadamat needed a secure pedestrian access solution for its Razeen-03 labour camp that would prevent unauthorized entry while keeping staff and visitors moving smoothly through the facility. Conventional swing gates and security guards alone were not enough to control access, particularly during peak entry and exit periods, so Khadamat asked Cosmos Innovative Technology Solutions to design and install a purpose-built turnstile system.
Cosmos carried out a full site assessment before finalizing the design, studying footfall patterns at shift-change hours alongside the integration requirements of the Dahua access control platform already running across the camp. The result was a purpose-built entry point that gave Khadamat centralized control over who could access the facility, without adding friction to daily movement for authorized personnel.
The Challenge
Khadamat’s existing setup at Razeen-03 relied on manual gate checks that could not reliably tell authorized personnel from tailgaters during high-traffic shift changes, and left no dependable record of who had actually passed through. The objective was to strengthen perimeter security without slowing down authorized personnel. Specifically, the project needed to:
Strengthen Perimeter Security
Harden every pedestrian entry point along the camp boundary so unauthorized access becomes structurally difficult, not just procedurally discouraged.
Prevent Tailgating & Unauthorized Access
Close the gap conventional swing gates and single-guard checkpoints leave open, where one authorized badge scan can let more than one person through unnoticed.
Maintain Accurate Entry & Exit Records
Replace informal gate logs with a system of record that timestamps every individual movement in and out of the facility for attendance and audit purposes.
Reduce Dependency on Manual Security Checks
Free security personnel from repetitive ID verification at the gate so they can be redeployed to active patrol and incident response instead.
Integrate With the Existing Access Control System
Connect the new entry point directly into the Dahua access control platform already governing the rest of the site, rather than running it as a separate, disconnected system.
The Solution
A dual-lane, full-height turnstile gate system built from SUS304 stainless steel was installed at the facility entrance and integrated with the site’s Dahua access control platform. Every element of the build, from the barrier mechanism to the authentication interfaces, was specified to work as one connected access point rather than a standalone gate bolted onto the existing perimeter. The installation was sequenced to keep the existing entrance operational throughout the works, with each lane commissioned and handed over in stages rather than as a single disruptive cutover. Access rules, credential formats, and lane logic were configured on site alongside Khadamat’s facilities team, so the finished system reflected how the camp actually operates day to day rather than a generic factory default.
Full-height mechanical barrier with bi-directional access control.
Anti-tailgating design that admits only one person per authorization.
Stainless steel, weather-resistant construction for continuous outdoor use.
Emergency unlock functionality for safe evacuation.
Open integration with RFID card readers, fingerprint devices, face recognition terminals, QR code scanners, and visitor management systems.
Overcoming Site Challenges
Three constraints shaped the final installation, each addressed without giving up either security or day-to-day throughput.
Limited Entrance Space
The entrance area required precise positioning to maintain comfortable pedestrian flow while meeting security requirements. A dual-lane configuration was selected to maximize throughput without expanding the entrance footprint.
Outdoor Environmental Conditions
The installation site was exposed to heat, dust, and weather. SUS304 stainless steel construction and weather-resistant electrical components were used throughout.
Integration with Security Systems
The turnstile needed compatibility with future access control upgrades. Open communication interfaces were implemented to support RFID, biometric, and QR-based authentication.

Results
Key Achievements
Six months into operation, the turnstile deployment is fully absorbed into Khadamat’s daily site routine at Razeen-03, with the following outcomes carrying through consistently since commissioning.
Controlled Pedestrian Access
All personnel, visitors, and contractors now pass through designated access points, giving Khadamat complete control over facility entry and exit.
Enhanced Security
The full-height turnstile design effectively prevents unauthorized entry, tailgating, and bypass attempts, strengthening the site’s overall perimeter security.
Improved Traffic Flow
The dual-lane configuration enables smooth, efficient movement of authorized users, reducing waiting times during peak operating hours.
Real-Time Access Monitoring
Integration with the access control system provides accurate records of every entry and exit transaction, supporting security monitoring, attendance tracking, and audit requirements.
Reduced Operational Dependence
Automated access verification minimizes the need for manual gate supervision, freeing security personnel to focus on monitoring and incident management.
Reliable, Continuous Operation
Stainless-steel construction and industrial-grade components ensure long-term durability, low maintenance, and reliable 24/7 performance outdoors, with automatic free rotation for safe evacuation during emergencies.
Recommended Applications
Based on this deployment, the same dual-lane full-height turnstile approach suits any facility that needs to balance high security with high pedestrian throughput:
